Tote is different to betting with a normal bookmaker. They pay out of a pot, much like a sweepstake. Once the event has finished, Tote takes a cut and everything else is shared out between the winners. Due to this, we have to tackle offers from them slightly differently, just to ensure that we do not lose money.
When looking at Tote, the Totewin column is the one we need. The figure shown as '£' is the figure we will use for the odds. £1.10 will equate to our back odds being 1.10. The closer to the race we place the bet, the more accurate those back odds will be. They are subject to change and you will be paid out at the odds that the winner finishes at.
To accommodate the potential for changing odds, we would always advise slightly underlaying your bet with the Exchange, which again just limits the risk involved, but as said previously, the closer to the race you place the bet, the better your chances of it being accurate!
Lastly, any free bets you get credited with Tote will be stake returned, so just make sure you have the calculator on the right setting!
